Dare to do something better and bolder
If you are sitting in a cubicle or a meeting that you have been in for the last four years, you might be wondering if you or your nonprofit can do bolder and better.
This is a great question.
Bolder and Better. How do we get there?
When you ask that question, you might just be on the edge of a new horizon for yourself and your nonprofit.
The key to better and bolder is curiosity; a healthy revulsion to a mindset that is content with “that’s we have always done.”
Today you can start that journey. You don’t have to rinse and repeat.
When you are curious, you can begin to experiment and fail…forward.
What keeps us in the status quo is the worry and stress that comes wiht new and different. Curiosity by its nature seeks the unknown and sidesteps failure. Curiosity knows that failure is another data point on the way to better and bolder.
You might say that my board of directors or my boss doesn’t do bold. You might say that I have not done bold for a long time.
Bold and better does not have to be bigger. Sometimes the biggest avalanches start with a small snow storm. Start small. Experiment with a new meeting format or a new vision statement.
Experiment with a new tool or technology. Find a new approach to deliver a service.
Send a different style of envelope for the same letter you have been sending for the past two years.
Do something better and a bit bolder. Be curious enough to experiment and flirt with failure.
I encourage you today to be a bit better and bolder as a person.
Be curious enough to wear that red sweater.
