Do Hard Today and Tomorrow Too!

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”


Are you facing something hard today? You’re not alone. Scripture never promises life will be easy—but it does promise that God will be with us in every season.

Jesus Himself told us:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
—John 16:33

The myth of “easy” whispers to our hearts, luring us to believe comfort, smooth paths, and quick results are just ahead. But the truth? Hard is inevitable.

Yet hard does not mean hopeless. Like dew on a hot morning or a cleansing rain after a long drought, God’s presence refreshes us in the very places where we feel most weary.

 


Learning His Way

Jesus not only acknowledges our struggle—He also invites us to draw near:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
—Matthew 11:28–30

Here’s the paradox: life is hard, but walking with Him is light.

The difference is not in the work itself but in who we are yoked with.

  • Working with Him brings peace, strength, and rest—even in struggle.
  • Working against Him leaves us restless, striving, and drained.

Whatever you face, don’t walk alone. Invite Jesus into the hard.

Trusting the Author

When the next chapter feels uncertain, I remind myself:

“I trust the next chapter because I know the Author.”

He writes every line with intention, weaving hardship and hope, difficulty and deliverance into a story that glorifies Him and grows us.

So do hard today.
Do hard tomorrow.
Do hard the next day.

Not in your own strength, but yoked to the One who carries the weight. Because even in the hard, He promises rest.

Singing in the Hard

Worship is one of the ways we remind ourselves of His faithfulness. Songs like “Goodness of God” echo the truth that:

  • God’s mercy has never failed us.
  • He has led us through fire and darkness.
  • His goodness is not just behind us in memory—it is running after us today.

As Psalm 23:6 declares:

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

When life is heavy, singing His goodness lifts our eyes to the One who carries us.

A Prayer for the Hard Days

Lord Jesus,

Today I bring You the hard things I face—the burdens I cannot carry alone. Thank You for inviting me to come to You, to rest in Your presence, and to walk in step with Your Spirit. Teach me to learn from You, to trust Your pace, and to yield to Your strength.

Help me trust that even in difficulty, You are writing a good story. Let me remember that my life is not authored by chance, but by the One who is faithful and true.

Give me courage to do hard today, tomorrow, and the next day—always yoked to You, my Savior and Friend.

And with every breath, let my heart sing of Your goodness.

Amen.

 


Final Encouragement

Hard is real—but so is God’s goodness. Let His presence renew your strength in every weary place.

The next chapter may be unknown, but the Author is good. So sing. Pray. Trust. Because even in the hard, His goodness is running after you.
